Orissa to set up new ports in Astharanga and Chudamani


Orissa government is all set to sign MoU’s with Hyderabad based Navayugha Engineering to set up an All Weather port in Astharanga in Puri district of Orissa. The total cost of project will be Rs.19000 million of which Rs. 4000 million will be spent on rail connectivity. The port will have a cargo handling capacity of 20 million tonnes per year in the first phase.  Essel  Engineering,  a AV Birla group is also planning to sign an MoU with the state government to set up a captive port jetty at Chudamani in Bhadrak district. The port will have 2 million tonne handling capacity and will handle cement, thermal coal, iron ore, limestones, clinker, gypsum and other metals. According to soruces, the Chief Minister has approved the proposals to sign these MoUs.
