Titagarh to set up Shipbuilding yard in Kulpi and Kanikara

Titagarh Wagons is planning to set up a ship building yard in Kulpi, 55 km downstream in Hooghly in West Bengal. The project cost is estimated at Rs. 4500 million and will build ocean going vessels. The company has sought permission from the government for exemption under Urban Land Ceiling Act for purchase of 440 acres of land and is likely to receive it in January 2012. It may be noted, the company also has 60 acres of land at Kankinara 35 kms upstream from Kolkatta where it will invest Rs. 2000 million to set up a yard to build offshore supply vessels.
