Dhamra Port which is scheduled to be commissioned later this year, has signed a cargo pact with Tata Steel. Currently, Tata Steel uses Haldia (0.7 mt) and Paradip (1 mt) ports for metcoke imports. The venture promoted by Tata Steel and L&T is looking at prospective users for inking similar deals. The port will have 25 mtpa capacity and have two berths each for coking coal imports and iron ore exports. Dhamra Port is situated in an ideal location that provide access to hinterland for raw materials as well as deep sea port.
