Azhicode Port to be developed soon

Government of Kerala is keen to invite global e-tenders to find a private partner to develop the Azhicode port in Kannur district of Kerala. The total project cost is estimated at Rs. 45,000 million and development of the port will provide a boost to industrial activities in northern Kerala. Currently, the port does not have berthing facilities for bigger vessels and the government has sought a private partner to indulge in capital dredging. The port is expected to have a wharf to unload coal (for Cheemani thermal plant), a cement terminal and a general cargo terminal. Land acquisition for the project is on and some part of development have also been completed as per the development plant
