Nagapattinam Port is likely to be developed through public-private partnership model and it involves expanding the port capacity to handle 1 million tpa of cargo annually which will be expanded to 6 million tpa over a period. Nagapattinam port is an all weather deep water port situated in the centre of the state and the government has allotted Rs. 3800 million to develop the port.
