Petronet LNG to set up LNG terminal in Kochi port


Petronet LNG has signed an agreement with Kochi Port Trust to set up a LNG terminal at Puthuvype  near Kochi Port land site and leased  33.40 hectares. The company has awarded the EPC contract to IHI, Japan. Currently, the capacity of the terminal is 2.5 mmtpa and it has provision to double it later. All other clearances has been completed, DPR done, environment clearances cleared and will pump Rs.40000 million and could generate indirect employment to 2000 – 5000 people.
 
This signing of agreement has been delayed much and the new terminal will help FACT, NTPC- Kayamkulam thermal plant and textile and foundry units in TN.
