Tuticorin Port plans Rs.16900 million expansion programme

Tuticorin Port, one of the busy port in southern part of Tamil Nadu is planning to invest Rs.16900 million over the two years to increase its cargo handling capacity. The new expansion projects will be set up in public-private partnership mode and it has called for tenders for development of North Cargo Berth III (on BOO basis) with an investment of Rs. 3320 million. It is also investing Rs.4000 million to increase its draft in main channel and across all berth to 12 mt from current 10.7 mt. It is also planning a second container terminal with an investment of Rs. 3120 million with a capacity of 600,000 twenty foot equivalent units (TEU’s) a year. Tuticorin Port signs agreement with Gijon Port Authority, Spain

Tuticorin Port signs agreement with Gijon Port Authority, Spain to encourage trade, research, development and innovation, technical co-operation and assistance in port management covering operation of specialised terminals, especially containers and dry bulk terminals. It will also encourage training of personnel and promote tourism and environment management.
