Maharashtra offers sops for new minor ports

Maharashtra government has revised its polices to offer sops for development of minor ports. It has provided industry status to ports and grant exemption on electricity duty, registration, stamp duty on infrastructure like road, rail, water and power supply. It also waived royalty on construction materials like clay, sand and earth. Further, it has designated Maharashtra Maritime Board as special planning authority to expedite development of minor ports. It has been given power to acquire private land upto 10 hectares.
