With more no. of coal based thermal projects announced near Kandla is a definitive indication that coal handling is bound to increase many fold. To meet the raising demand, Kandla port is setting up 4 coal berth at Tuna-Tekhra, a satellite port with a draft of 17 meters allowing even larger vessels. The project cost is estimated around Rs.7550 million and it is expecting approval from Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs to set up another 4 such berths.
