Railways keen to connect 3 ports in West Bengal

Railways is considering to provide rail connectivity to 3 ports – Haldia, Diamond Harbour and Sagar Island. A 2 km new rail line will be laid from the port to Diamond Harbour railway station, however, the container terminal project is inlimbo for 2 years and a rail may provide impetus. Next is the Haldia Dock two, where a rail line is proposed for 8 kms to connect Haldia-Panskura rail network. A 32 km road cum rail link is considered to provide connectivity for the Sagar Island port.
